The New Towns Taskforce has published its report identifying recommended locations for new towns across England. As the national conversation gathers pace, Stantec is contributing new insight through commissioned research with YouGov to better understand public expectations of the Government’s New Towns initiative: what is the public’s perception of new towns, and what will it take to build trust and deliver places where people can live and thrive?

Our study of over 4,000 respondents reveals a significant challenge: almost 7-in-10 (68%) of those surveyed find the idea of living in a new town unappealing. This highlights the urgent need for us to rethink how we plan, communicate, and deliver new communities.
